What We Do
The Trauma Recovery Alliance (TRA) is a Maryland-based nonprofit education and advocacy organization focused on advancing informed, compassionate, and community-based approaches to trauma recovery. Our work centers public education, harm-reduction principles, survivor-led dialogue, and evidence-informed discussion related to trauma, depression, PTSD, and collective harm. We engage in this work in a non-clinical, non-commercial context, prioritizing safety, dignity, and informed choice.
Our Work Includes
Public Education
We develop and share educational materials that explore trauma, depression, PTSD, and community-based recovery approaches in accessible, evidence-informed ways.
Harm-Reduction Education
We promote harm-reduction principles that emphasize safety, responsibility, and informed decision-making, particularly where public understanding is limited or stigmatized.
Survivor-Led Dialogue
We create spaces for respectful, survivor-led conversation that honor lived experience without providing therapy or individualized intervention.
Community Learning & Events
We host educational discussions, panels, and events that bring together individuals with lived experience, researchers, clinicians, veterans, educators, and advocates.
Stigma Reduction & Advocacy
We work to reduce stigma around trauma and mental health by encouraging thoughtful public dialogue and evidence-informed policy discussion.

Our Work in Maryland
As a Maryland-based organization, the Trauma Recovery Alliance is informed by the state’s diverse communities, veteran populations, public health challenges, and evolving policy landscape related to mental health and trauma recovery. We engage in responsible policy-adjacent education and public dialogue that supports safety, dignity, and informed decision-making — while remaining compliant with state and federal law. Our goal is not to influence individual behavior, but to contribute to thoughtful, evidence-informed conversations that help shape compassionate approaches to trauma recovery.
